Gareth has worked for the Welsh Ambulance Services NHS Trust (WAST) for over ten years now having joined the organisation in 2007. In his current role Gareth is Patient Experience and Community Involvement Co-ordinator working within the Trust’s Quality, Safety and Patient Experience Directorate. Gareth’s role is to involve patients, public, staff and local organisations in the development and delivery of the Trust’s services. He says, 'The Welsh Ambulance Service is committed to listening and learning from people who use the service. Knowing and understanding our users experiences is a valuable learning opportunity and helps us to make sure we’re delivering services that meet the needs of our patients'.

After attending the Stonewall Cymru Role Model programme in late 2016 Gareth and some colleagues decided they wanted to re-launch the WAST LGBT+ Staff Network which had become inactive. They re-launched the Network in February 2017 to coincide with LGBT History Month and are continuing to work to raise its profile within WAST. It was also in February 2017 that Gareth joined the National Ambulance LGBT Network committee, and he looks forward to playing an active role in developing the network and its future plans.
