Paramedic

ash.deakins@wmas.nhs.uk

Ash joined the NHS after leaving school and has worked in a variety of roles such as NHS Commissioning and Ambulance Service Management before joining West Midlands Ambulance Service in 2016 on their Student Paramedic programme.  After completing his studies at the University of Worcester, Ash registered as a Paramedic in late 2018 and is working operationally whilst leading the proud@wmas LGBT Network.

West Midlands Ambulance Service formed the 'Pride Network' in 2013 and re-launched as Proud@WMAS to engage with the ever-changing workforce in 2017 when Ash was elected as Chair of the network. Ash is keen to grow and develop the network both locally and nationally to help staff better care for patients from the LGBT community and support staff through an inclusive network.
