Jim was interested in a medical career from a very young age. At 16 he started working as a lifeguard and despite a brief interest in computers came back to the path that he always wanted, joining the NHS in 2006 working in the Cardiac Catheter Lab in Southampton General Hospital. Alongside working in the NHS he volunteered with St John Ambulance including supporting the local Ambulance Service.

Jim joined East of England Ambulance Service in 2009 as a Student Paramedic. He is now a Senior Paramedic Mentor in Bury St Edmunds and is the Chair of #WeAreEEAST LGBT Network.
